DEAD DECAPITATOR TEAM

D.D.T. ADVISORY
For IMMEDIATE Release

WARNING! WARNING!

The following bulletin is for the general public.
Please read and BE AWARE!

The following excerpts are from a journal written by Donald Wheaton, the Mayor of Quiet Springs, OH. They pertain to the events that took place during the month of October, 1954, and the events that occurred in the months preceding that epidemic. You need to know what happened and be knowledgeable of the signs of infection to prevent this from happening in your hometown.

Above all else, please STAY AWAY from Quiet Springs and do not let the infected get near you! You will be quarantined immediately!

Mayor's journal excerpts follow.

July 1, 1954 - My town is dying and the only hope is this years corn crops. It has been four months and the stalks are barely over a foot, and riddled with wireworms. Something has to be done or the town will fall and I will be the one to blame. My wife, Mary, believes in me. I hope I don't let her down....

Blast Away ClippingAugust 6, 1954 - After weeks of experiments and trials in my cellar, I think I have the perfect compound to put onto our corn fields. I have taken the chemicals we usually use and added my own secret ingredient. We will start spreading it on Monday and I hope, within one week, that we will see results....

August 16, 1954 - Success! The corn is pest free and growing like mad. No one knows how I did it, no one needs to know and I don't think anyone cares. Even the neighboring towns are clamoring to our doors for this miracle. They are ordering by the drum! Not only have I saved our crops, I have started a new business that will save myself and the town - “Blast Away”! Quiet Springs is finally going to be on the map!

September 10, 1954 - Blast Away has not only done wonders for the town but it has done wonders for us! We are expanding our home to make it more befitting of a mayor. It will give me more room for my work on the pesticide since I am the only one that knows the ingredients. In just about one month we will start the harvest and this town will reap the rewards of everyone's hard work....

October 8, 1954 - The Indians may lose the pennant but we got the best crop of corn this town has ever seen! Finally Quiet Springs can breathe again, I am the hero! Now I am talking with Mary about getting the wives to organize a festival to celebrate. Corn eating contests, potato sack races, the whole she-bang! It's too bad I can't actually eat the corn to taste how sweet it really is.....

October 16, 1954 - The festival today was a wonderful event for the whole community. This is just what we needed to bring in some new visitors and renew people's faith in this town. Plus, some good home cooking doesn't hurt. My little Susie is proud of her trophy for winning the potato sack race....

October 17, 1954 - Overnight the town of Quiet Springs has turned into the forsaken trenches of Hell. I've but a moment to jot down a quick note before the men and I go looking for survivors. The screams from beyond my door step make me fear the worst. I have no idea what has happened in the night, but it sounds like pure madness has descended upon us. Mary and Susie are locked in the cellar here, with a few other women and children from the town that came to us for aid. Please let there be someone else out there alive....

October 17, 1954 - Nothing. Nothing to bring back except horror. Visions of families devouring each other, attacking in a frenzy. No one is to be found and the ones we can hear crying, we just can't get to. We are starting to figure out that eating the corn has something to do with the madness, yet some of the infected didn't eat it. It has us all puzzled and nervous. I'm sick with guilt and grief. Guilt, knowing that I did this, my pride, my pesticide. Grief knowing I had to take my little Susie's life, and the lives of the two women she attacked and infected. God help us all.....

October 20, 1954 - I pray no one gets this journal, but if you are reading this, know three things. One, I am truly sorry for what has happened. I felt it was the answer to our towns woes, not the beginning. Two, You should never have come here, for you are as good as dead. Three, this is my confession. No one, not even Mary, knew my chemistry background before I arrived at Quiet Springs. I did research using cadavers. I realized early on that those who died unexpectedly, with no real reason, held secrets in their lifeless limbs. I harnessed that power and used it to create a perfect pesticide, Blast Away. It killed the wireworms and allowed the crops to flourish. I didn't foresee the mutation once those crops were ingested by my friends and family. I fear the madness slows our bodies growth and may very well keep the infected alive indefinitely, and the rest of us seem to slow the same way. Since I have never had any of our crop, I can only assume its moved into the water and possibly is airborne. There is no escape. I fear we're all mad. Let no one follow you here. Do not leave. Don't take the chance of this madness slipping outside our borders. Please forgive me.....
